  • James Kennedy:

In a recent article Dr Shucksmith gave on the 39 Steps [sic. Ed: This should be the 39 Articles of Religion] and where he defended his position on whether Christ descended into Hell, which i do not hold, based upon my understanding of the role of John the Baptist

1500 years before Christ God gave us the commandments this is a divine Law and can never be abrogated to abrogate the Commandments of God is to HATE God, because it justifies death, usually the death of innocent people.

In Exodus 20 v 5-6 it states, (and we must acknowledge the grandeur of the person speaking)

5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

God did not stop working after the 6th day, neither did he rest after the 7th day, but has been actively working for the salvation of all men, God does not judge, for all judgement is given to the Son, this is true even prior to the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, many times God declares that he will “refine” his people, and is it no small wonder that so many die each day for no reason, are we to assume that God cannot redeem them persons who die in accidents and suffer murders, if that was so we would be worshipping a limited God, but we don’t worship a limited God, he is almighty, but he does not judge, were he to judge a man his soul would die, but he looks for his own Son in Man.

So this man who hates God what becomes of him, he is destined for Perdition and he will abide there until all the sins committed by his four generations of descendants are heaped up and pressed down then he will face Judgement and Hell, but God does not Judge it is the Son who judges and it is the way it has always been, if a man falls into the power of the commandments it is like falling into the power of gravity.
    Generational Curse.
If this Son of Perdition has 10 children and all his descendants have 10 children too the number of those subject to punishment is
    10
    100
    1000
    10000
The punishment is not a punishment as we would expect it, it is along the lines of a personal failure to forgive, spiritual blindness, these and many other handicaps are just (and vital in themselves for survival) because the Son of Perdition has interfered in God the Fathers redemptive work by killing people thus deferring THEIR salvation.
Needless to say through Christ a generational curse can be broken, but it can go the other way too as one or more of these descendants may become a Son of Perdition starting the whole cycle off again.

The structure of tribal culture was that the head of the household’s beliefs would become the belief of ALL the household, therefore this constitutes an inherent acceptance of the modes and mores, but in modern times the fathers of households can be attributed to political ideologies therefore Hitler Stalin Pol Pot and Osama Bin Laden are all Sons of Perdition actively waiting out their final judgement, and the descendants are very widespread amongst current populations.
The Son of God is the Spirit of Truth HE came to dwell in Jesus of Nazareth, and HE was given the same power as God the Father in that “just as the Father has LIFE in HIMSELF, so HE has granted the SON to have LIFE in HIMSELF”. this evolution that God has caused is to counter evil after the death of Abel and the arrogance of Lemuel (Genesis 4:24).
It is also relevant to accept that God has elected many people to Paradise even before Jesus of Nazareth became Christ, take his word for it in Exodus 20 v 6

6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

Nevertheless the SON of God is always active it is beneath the Father to judge the sinner, that he he should even appear before him is seen as horrifying to the SON.
Jesus has explained Paradise as the Next World, this World is inhabited by millions of those who have gone through the Great Tribulation (that is this world) they are uniquely arranged in contemporaneous generations, if a person actually gets there he/she will not be in the presence of strangers but of family members, the thing is they will not be decrepit or old as they will have had their youth renewed,(there are no murderers in this place) everyone will have interactive communication and are waiting for resurrection they can see resurrections occurring all around them, God the Father is very active as he looks for His own Son even here in all these people, and he watches as the same glorified body that Christ arose in is transforming all of these people into glorified copies of Christ, who at their appointed time regenerate into the original people the were but in the prime of their lives.
The resurrected people will then ascend to a higher heaven, to the joy of all those contemporaneous generations of people who inhabit Paradise.

This generation who “aspire to the next world” will notice one thing the oldest generation in Paradise are from the second millennia, so learn to know that nothing is fixed by human imagination God is at work (in his Word and in Christ) and has done marvellously well.

But listen whoever you are, is time so slack that you think you might prefer to be redeemed eventually by God Our Fathers good graces and his use of “Refining Grace” contact the Son and dont be coming back here all the time.

Thanks for posting James. Not quite sure what you are trying to say. Are you a member of a local church that can talk through these issues with you?

  • Dear Christian brother (and Mr Bartle),
I read the article in EC July 13th/20th issue about Olympism and have much sympathy with and support for it’s thesis. However I beg to suggest that Christian athletes CAN participate in this event to the glory of God just as they can participate in any other sport to that end,or indeed ‘peel a spud to the glory of God’ as Eric Liddle’s father is quoted as saying! I admit the chief hindrance to them is the tainted motive of glorifying self which so easily creeps into any performance (even preaching!).However I do believe we are in the world but not of it and we can be Olympians without worshipping Olympism!Paul had a lot to say about athletic endeavour and the positive lessons he gleaned from the athletes that he transposed into our spiritual endeavour for God. Eric Liddle was an outstanding Christian Olympian and there were many like him in London 2012. I would let God judge their motivation and the rightness of their actions-perhaps a bit like eating food dedicated to idols who are no gods at all!
